Aspects of Post-Soviet Migration Problems -- 'Pereselency' (resettlers) are called those 'foreign Russians' in Russia -- those who, since the collapse of the Soviet Union, attempt to emigrate from the other former republics to today's Russia. As neither the demographic nor the political labor market & legal situation in the 1990s was in a position to ensure the returning migrants an adequate foundation for a new life in the new Russia, a large part of the 'pereselency' today numbers, socially, among the most poorly positioned part of the population. At the same time, their situation delivers an example of the varied structural problems with which the post-Soviet society must still struggle.
